Frequently asked questions.

What is Counselling?

Counselling is a relationship that can serve as a source of support for you in a multitude of ways. Counselling is transformation and it can be the safe place you share your inner thoughts and feelings. It is a professional relationship where you can bring vulnerability and understand yourself better. If you are constantly feeling overwhelmed, stuck, and frustrated by life, therapy can be a healthy resource and support for you.

What is an RCC?

RCC stands for a registered clinical counsellor. This means that the counsellor has gone through a specific educational training program catered towards counselling. With this education, they have applied for licensing from British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors.

What is a consultation?

Therapy is a unique process to each individual, but most importantly it is a relationship! A consultation is a way that we can begin connecting with each other to see if we are a good fit. Counselling is a vulnerable process, so it is crucial you feel safe and understood. Typically, a consultation is completed over the phone and takes about 15 minutes. On the phone call, it is an opportunity to discuss goals and specific concerns you have coming into counselling.

How long are sessions and how many will I need?

Typically, sessions are 50 minutes long. The number of sessions we meet will vary on your goals and desires for the overall outcome of therapy. Ultimately, the length of time we meet will be up to you, what works best for your schedule, budget, and goals. Clients can access therapy weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

What is the cost of counselling?

The cost of counselling can vary for different therapists. I charge $150 + GST per session.

Are you able to lower the cost of counselling?

I offer a sliding scale where counselling can be offered at a more affordable rate, however, these slots are limited. A sliding scale is a way to reduce barriers to accessing counselling. Please inquire for further information.

Will insurance cover the cost of counselling?

Most insurance plans will cover a portion or the cost of a certain number of sessions. This will solely depend on your specific insurance plan. It is important to contact your insurance provider about your specific coverage.

How do you accept payment for counselling?

Payments are accepted by Interact E-transfer or credit card. Payments are due at the beginning of scheduled appointment.
